what do f1 drivers prefer, colockwise or anti clockwise?

Turkey’s Turn 8 famously takes up, according to Mercedes, “40% of the tyre energy” for the lap. Do you think with the Pirelli tyre wear this year, teams will go as far as maybe even some positive camber on the front left in order to ease some of the tyre wear? I believe Nascar do that on ovals

Did you hear that new Mercedes upgrade package should gave them one second? How the hell it’s possible? Any ideas?

@Craig Scarborough: How does rake affect both centre of gravity and pressure in a F1 car? Is that the main reason of Red Bull’s RB7 performance? Could it be easily copied by other teams?

How do you think the tire degradation is going to be around turn 8? I think there will be so much clagg around that corner going wide may be unrecoverable like most did before by going wide.

Steve just mentioned about Speed coverage on F1 and Peter used to be the pit-lane reported for them too. In my personal opinion, I disagree with him about their coverage because of the lag they have. They are usually running a lot behind what is going on in real time. It is annoying to people who actually watch the Live Timing Screen provided by Formula1.com because that clearly tells you how far that is. Even though I am in the US, I prefer to watch the BBC coverage with JH, EJ & DC because of that. Why is that F1 on Speed is shown with a delay. Another thing which sets apart the BBC show with Speed is the access they get inside the Paddock. Shouldn’t Speed try to get that to improve their show?

To all, do you know what are the upgrades that the main teams are bringing to Turkey? Red Bull, McLaren, and specially Ferrari? is it true the use of Toyota’s wind tunnel by Ferrari?

Why does Formula 1 feel the need to constantly change the rules?
There is no need to change the engine regulations or anything else for that matter. It’s perfect the way it is now, please just leave it.
Things like the budget cap, I don’t believe there is a single fan who cares how much a team spends. For the teams that don’t have the budgets of the top teams then tough, maybe they should start a different championship. Personally I would be much happier if the top teams could have four cars each. Just imagine Hamilton,Button,Kubica and Kobayashi in the same team.

Steve, You came and did a talk at my University in 2007 and the way you talked with passion about Mclaren and the technology was brilliant! I was very surprised to hear you went to NASCAR. How much does the Technology differ between F1 and NASCAR?

I am an aspiring aerodynamicist and have designed my own formula 1 car in PowerPoint, would Craig Scarborough like to have a look at it so I can find out what his opinions on it are?

There has been a lot of discussion about the 2013 regulations. I feel the 4-cyl engines too vulgar. V6 at least would be nice. The days of overpowered one-lap engines are over, that’s why 4-cylinder sound a bit clumsy.. What are your expectations of the future regulations?

To help the “slosh” effect in F1 and help safty why dont they use bladders in fuel tanks or do they?

Me and my dad were talking about this the other day, we have studied the setup of the McLaren, RedBull and Ferrari, and seem to agree on one thing; the RedBull runs a large amount of forward rake compared to the McLaren. If McLaren were to do this would they gain an overall downforce advantage as they are essentially turning the entire floor into one large diffuser?

But on the contrary, how would it work for the sponsors if the car is deemed in-completable and cannot race.

Does Scarbs forsee any embarrassing durability issues for Pirelli this weekend given the demands of Turn Eight? Lewis’s style necessitated a three-stop race back in ’08 so could we even see some drivers run out of tyres on Sunday?

The regulations DO NOT ALLOW more than 60% scale wind tunnel testing except for days traded for straight line testing during the season.

To ScarbsF1: Turkey is an anticlockwise circuit. What changes you think are made to the car for this reason? Do you think the contents of the left and right side-pods swapped because I have read somewhere there is always more flow in the other sidepod.

Did Red Bull design their car so that even when it is at a relatively “level” setup, the floor is already raked?

Would you like to see refueling to come back

I understand that the underfloor of the car accelerates the air creating a low pressure and hence downforce. But I don’t understand how blowing high pressure exhaust into the diffuser adds to the downforce can scarbs explain.

Hi as I understand it Mclaren had a “trick” floor in pre-season that was unreliable if they can get it to work can they catch/beat Red Bull and can scarbs explain the differance between the two (apart from ones Carbon and ones titanium lol)Cheers Ant
