I thought this was an interesting interview with one of the most successful contemporary black and white photographers in the world. It is always interesting to get the artist’s direct perspective, and the interviewer did a good job with his questioning of Mr. Loranc, with Mr. Loranc doing an equally good job responding. With due respect, I think Greg may not have understood Mr. Loranc’s comments about technology correctly. I believe all he was trying to say is that truth lays in untouched film, whereas with digital photography you can never be quite sure whether what you are viewing as the image is /was real, or contrived/enhance in some fashion.

Greg

Roman says he doesn’t like technology, but darkroom chemicals, enlargers, light sensitive paper, enlarging lenses, film cameras etc are technology. They are just not the latest technology
